Nice 'n' blurry macros

Post by Beatsy »

Never seen a macro lens with nasty bokeh. Here's a few snapped in the garden today. All handheld with 90mm 1:1 macro on A Sony A1 running in APS-C crop mode.
All images single shots taken in natural ligh. Light post processing and moderate crops for composition and extra mag (roughly ranging from 1.5 : 1 to 2.5 : 1 equivalent).

I like the foreground bokeh but I think the background bokeh in the first picture is streaky and unpleasant. Wouldn't it be better with a less-structured, more even blur that fades out more gradually around the edges?

You're tight Lou. It's because the background is too dark. It was lighter and the spikes blended better when I first framed it up, but I moved when "chasing" the critter for the shot.
