I'm really not much of a macro shooter, but I was recently up in NY visiting relatives and their yard was teeming with surprisingly cooperative insects. I took these shots on my Kubotek 80mm linescan lens--I bought it with the intention of using it in studio work but that didn't work out and now it's my field lens. Aside from the occasional issue with flare at higher mags it's a serious pleasure to use. Plus, in addition to its low price and nice performance, it looks nice on the camera.

Re: A few NY bugs
A nice start! The dragonflies are a blue dasher, followed by an Eastern pond hawk. Both are still among my favorite species to photograph.
The long-legged fly can be challenging to shoot with a flash, since their reflexes are so incredibly fast that a flash set for TTL shooting will often result in a fly-less picture. The very short pre-flash from TTL will spook them so they are long gone before the actual picture is taken.
