Mottled shieldbug (Rhaphigaster nebulosa)

The working distance and the bokeh of a longer macro lens just invite to work a bit more artistic, like using negative space or so.

K1, Sigma 180/3,5 @F8, 1/200sec, iso 400 and tripod. Stack from 3 shots. 1: focus on the shield, 2: focus on the eyes 3: focus on the leaf.

Nice result! I'm doing this more often too (take a few pix that focus on different parts, then stack). Also the composition is interesting, which is something else I've been meaning to do more often. That is, not putting the critter in the center but off to the side.
