Macro Trip to Coorg/Madikeri Rainforest - India. 2018

Post by anvancy »

In 2018 I had ventured out for a short macro tour inside a certain section of Western Ghats of India. These Ghats or mountain ranges are eco sensitive rainforests and have their own list of endemic species.

While my photos are in no way professionally oriented as I take photos for hobby, I thought to share these photos here. Most of specimens are tropic related and are found in Asia but some are very specific to India/Western Ghats.

If you are interested to read about the backstory of my trip do head on to my blog: http://anvancy.com/beyond-coffee-coorg-macro-2018/ Part 2 is also there. I am writing a multi-part series of the trip.

Beautiful! I am one of many of your admirers.
The earthworm is actually a kind of terrestrial flatworm, which is a in a different phylum. The terrestrial species are often surprising, moving rather quickly right out in the warm air, and they can also be surprisingly large.

Thanks @Chris. Well it was a mixed one. Among the locals there is a list of endemic species one can find there. example there are 53 types of frogs found in that property alone. But too much of rains also hampers the visibility. There was this incident where I and some of my friends retired after the night trail but some continued the trail. They finally did spot a frog we were after at 2am in the night.

Hi @Mark. Thanks and same here. :) Glad you like my images.
For the flatworm I was not sure to call it a flatworm or not. Thanks for this clarification. When I was watching the photo on my computer, i did observe eyes on one end of the worm. Dont think these are prominent present in earthworms?

Thanks @DocAus. All of us missed that at first and almost walked past it. Went back and had a close inspection to check that its really there.
