Colorful Marble Orb Weaver

Post by JW »

This ambitious spider had built a rather large web covering the sliding door opening to my deck, a span of about 36 inches / 90 cm or so. I guess it was hoping to catch a cat or a small child going in or out . I was able to easily capture both top and bottom views.

A very nice example of a female, based on size of over 1 cm, araneus marmoreus. All shots with a 50mm macro lens on a Canon 50D, f/11, 1/60 exp., ISO 800, hand held (not stacked).

Beautiful subject. Very sharp images. Nicely done.
The trouble with quick and dirty is that the dirty remains after the quick is gone.
