Chris,

"Utilizing Sony’s exclusive By Pixel Super Resolution Technology, Clear Image Zoom increases the effective focal length of your lens up to 2x by digitally magnifying the center of your image with nearly imperceptible degradation. It virtually doubles the effective focal length of whatever lens you’re using providing greater shooting flexibility."

Copied from sonystyle.com :)

So far I feel that sony's clear image zoom is still not good enough. But it is an interesting feature in A57 camera. '

I am not able to understand how the lens is mounted for such images. Is it possible to use this idea in a DRLS? Can anyone show a sketch or a photo?

thank you very much

I like to use a 20mm f3.5 Nikkor set on an K1 extension ring. It's not quite as drastic as the OP pics but I still like the effect, especially on flowers. I try to shoot it at larger apertures to blurr the background. I find the sharper background on such images to just be too distracting. It leaves me trying to decide what the subject really is.
D50,100 IR, 90, 700, 800E and a box of old manual lenses.
