Ecuador cloud forest part 4

Post by pbertner »

Parasitic wasp:

Image

Image
4 shot handheld stack. The background is royally botched but the wasp itself came out looking okay. Okay so this is actually a Dryinid wasp, a parasitizer of leafhoppers and treehoppers. unsure of the reason behind the strong mantid resemblance.

Lace bug against leaf:
Image
Shot against strong sunlight, I used 1/64th power flash to slightly illuminate the lace bug which I then dodged in Aperture post process to bring up the colours. I liked the echo of the veins between the leaf and the lace bug.

Yet another donation:

Beautiful iridescent chalcid wasp:

Richardia sp.:

Stinging nettle (Urticea) flower:

Dolichopodinae:

Shot at 5x at night. Little bugger didn't want to turn around to be profile.

Sorry, just a note that I mistook the parasitic wasp for a mantid

Great images. That stinging nettle flower is a welcome surprise.

The little lace bug is amazing. The nettle flower looks like it's made up of other bugs drinking from the center. :)
