Summer break! Field mix

Post by hayath »

Managed to squeeze out a short morning walk during a family weekend trip. Was hot and humid for most of the time, a big overnight downpour made a lot of stuff spring to life!
Some images to share.

2. Absolutely incredible structure on this. Found on the outer wall of the homestay we stayed at.

4. To be honest , hadn't even noticed the larger female before reviewing it on the LCD

All shot on the Olympus EM1 M2, 90mm f3.5, Godox TT 350O with a DIY diffuser.

Hyath -

Lovely, as always. Can't help but marvel at the intricacy of the stick insect egg case and wonder about the functions of the various structural components. Reminds me of some human architecture - maybe Morrocan? The spider photo is also especially nice, both for the aesthetics and for the story it tells.

Cheers, David

It would be nice if you could zoom in and post the parts of photo 3 that show the opening of the cocoon lid and the hatchling!

Thanks much, gents!

Zook -thanks, will revisit this with a larger crop. If you notice, many of the "openings" also seem to have moults visible

Excellent! I wonder if the last image is actually a slime mold rather than a fungus. I'm not very knowledgeable about it but the image reminds me of fruiting slime mold pics that recently appeared in National Geographic.

Great images. How do you like your 90mm versus the 60mm?

Thanks! That was my first gut feel too.
Was ID'ed as something belonging to Hypocreales by some field experts

Thanks! Both have their own specific niches.
The 90mm brings back some of the classic bokeh one associates with Macro lenses, but the DoF certainly drops when compared to the 60mm.
The added reach is nice too with some jumpy subjects

Herman - Thanks a ton!
