Scanner Sensor CCD Assistance
Lately I my spare time I've been looking up film scanner CCD specs and adding these to tests I've done and for new tests I'm working on. Does anyone have any spares lying around that they are not going to keep? I'll tracked down maybe 5 so far, I'll be sure to share the specs list when I'm done if anyone is interested.
The scanner CCD manufacturer, usually Sony, puts out a CCD data PDF and this tells us CCD active width, photo site size, and max PPI.
Hope someone out there has these around gathering dust!
CCDs ID'd list:
Polaroid SprintScan 120
Polaroid SprintScan 4000
Microtek 4000
PrimeFilm 3650
PrimeFilm XE
Nikon LS-3510
CCDs that need to he ID'd:
Nikon LS-1000
Nikon LS-10
Nikon LS-30
Scitex Smart 340
Looking for these CCDs!:
Minolta - all esp. the 5400!
Nikon - all (other than the above)
I've tossed multiples of all the above over the years, there isn't really a used market for used scanner parts unfortunately.
I think I've tossed at last 6 of the Minolta 5400 scanners (without lenses).
Now I wish that I had kept the CCDs at least!
Best,

You've saved all these sensors over the years? Ray you are a resourceful problem-solver!
I'll send you a PM.
Best,
Robert

Robert,
No spares at my end--just a fully-functioning Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED that I have no wish to dissect.
But I'm curious--are you going to address these electrically and read a target with them?

Re: Scanner Sensor CCD Assistance
Hi Chris,
No, no, nothing that involved. I just dig up the CCD data sheets to find interesting information. Resolution without optical scaling, the width of the active CCD area is, also the pixel pitch of the sensor.
(Interestingly I used to help ID'ing chips and digging up data in my pre-Professional photographer life in the automotive reverse engineering field here in the city Torrance where we had Nissan, Honda and Toyota HQ. Long story but we would borrow press cars and reverse engineered the ECU and control units for other companies.)
I dug this up info up today and added it to my site page for the Nikon LS30:

Hah, more a packrat than a problem solver. The Minolta and Nikon sensors are on their way to you. Glad they found a good use.RobertOToole wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 8:44 pmYou've saved all these sensors over the years? Ray you are a resourceful problem-solver!
