its fair. Going to chamfer the gears and tighten things up. The smaller toothed gears are harder to 3d print. Not as notchy and i needed the space.

I have the nikon lambda plate on my setup but I pretty much never use it. For epi illumination it mostly just adds a tint which I don't like the look of much.

I guess that Nikon lambda plate is intended as de Sénarmont compensation for EPI DIC.
My slider lacked it, allowing whatever birefringent retardation to be installed at any angle.

It can be used for epi DIC or for simple polarization. I don't care foe the effect in either to be honest. It does make DIC more colorful but somehow it never seems to give me the effect I want vs adjusting the dic slider. It may be that it's less compatible with the single slider system on eclipse series scopes vs the multiple objective prism setup it was designed for.

so that polarizer rotation somehow substitutes for DIC prism Vernier(s) that Optiphot per-objective DIC sliders lack.
Perhaps Eclipse analyzer orientation differs from that in Optiphot vertical illuminator.
Ideally, easy lambda plate rotation might be wanted in addition to polarizer rotation for other than DIC.

Lambda plate rotation not so easy. It could be made rotatable in the slider but not driven with a thumbwheel. it may be possible to have 2 stacked rotatable sliders. would have to make everything thinner.
This is probably final revision. Got the analyzer complete. Added a detent for the slider. The slider is now beveled to hold it in the slot.

Two 3D-printed rotatable sliders from μ-stuff are 4.6 and 4.1mm thick, while Nikon's polarizing slider allows 4.8mm.
Sadly, Nikon polarizer's slot is 26.1mm wide, while μ-stuff sliders are 26.8 and 26.9mm wide;
I have been reluctant to risk skimming 0.4mm or so from 4.1x26.9mm μ-stuff slider edges...

27mm Nikon slider filter o.d., with 23mm visible for darkfield illumination;
only 18mm is used for bright field; that is Nikon's ND filter o.d..

The outer "chimney" may need removal for access to the "T" inner photo tube.

If I was wanting to do a DIC setup would standard bdplan objectives work? Also i some kind of prisms needed for the head. I see lots of them for nosepiece and nothing for the head.
