If you turn off scaling in Zerene, maybe you could run three stacks, one for each channel (all derived from the same images), and then combine them at the end? That should fix this kind of chromatic aberration.

Do you have a type id or link where I can find that ring light around your Mitutoyos?I was reminded of this recently and decided to try it again. I am not sure why my initial impression of the ring light was so poor, because the ring light gives me what looks like very acceptable epi darkfield illumination with my mitutoyos.

It's a fostec 32mm id ring light. I got it used on eBay.

That is a plan; at least in theory, avoiding color artifacts wants any resampling done in linear color space instead of e.g. 24-bit RGB with gamma.
