Hello ALL
I am a (very) amateur microscopist who has inherited a pair of old Leitz Periplan GW 8x (high-eyepoint symbol) M eyepieces: one eyepiece is fixed, 2nd eyepiece has a focusable eyelens and a focusable reticule. Having read a variety of lens cleaning publications, I began by partially disassembling the fixed eyepiece and removing/cleaning the lens closest to the observer’s pupil( i.e. eyelens). This eyelens is easily removed and re-installed.
I then inadvertently moved the 2nd lens that sits just below the eyelens and seems held in place by a circular black metal band inside the eyepiece tube. Then 2nd lens is now loose (actually can be removed) and I do not know how to re-seat it.
Can anyone offer advice on the proper procedure for re-installing that 2nd lens ? I do know that the convex side of the 2nd lens is farthest from the eyelens.
Thanks in advance for help that is offered.
