Quasi-Focus-Stacking for Sony A7RIV

Post by Doppler9000 »

Hopefully this isn’t old news.

Tap the button on the Sony RMT-P1BT bluetooth remote to advance the focus.

Unclear how far it advances per tap, which is dependent on focus distance and aperture, it seems.

I may try one out.

I have this remote for my A7r IV and all I can say is that is in my opinion not very useful. Can't seem to quantify the increment. But I can tell you that it is brutally slow in practice. One of the first times I tried this it was for a 40 image stack. My finger hurt by the time I got through the series. I then hauled out my D850 and did the same shot with focus shift and it was at least 8-10 times faster. The Sony remote works great for firing the camera It is a blue tooth remote and I have had it for a year and it is by far the best bluetooth device I have ever used. Linked it to the cameara upon receipt and have not had a single issue since.

Thanks, Lyle.

I have ordered it, so will give bracketing a whirl, with low expectations.
