Wild M10 delaminated/damaged lens in the zoom optics

Post by Rorschach »

Hi,

I have been offered a deal on a Wild M10 optics body that has one of the two lowest lenses (that sit right above the objective) showing pretty severe delamination or other damage. Is the lens salvagable and if not, is it possible to find a replacement? Further question: how difficult is it to replace, i.e. will there be a nearly impossible alignment problem to be solved or would it be a relatively easy job of just unscrewing, replacing and rescrewing?

Here is an image of the lens in question. It looks like that will severely affect image quality if nothing is done, rendering the unit quite unusable.

Hi
Reglue the lenses , and align as described in service manual
for Wild Stereo Microscope - that fix it

You need ! UV glue , UV Light , Microscope Alignment Tool (Autokollimator) , Mirror

Dont Look like delamination on picture , more like Fungus , Dirt ??

Hi Pär,

Thanks for the tips. Although, the process probably sounds easier than it is :-) Do you have a good quality electronic copy of the M10 repair manual? I only have M8 repair manual.

How expensive are autokollimators? Are they ok to buy used or risky?

Best regards,
Riku

Hi !
I guess its same Procedure as for M8 with Alignment
if its Needed !

Autokolimator can you buy used no problems but look for right
size and F=80mm (160mm) explined in M8 Manual

Dont think its so hard to fix , regluing Prismas in Binocular are not so hard
and smal lenses would be more easy to do

Hi!

Ok, thanks. If you have experience of autokollimators for these, what brand and model did you use?

Best regards,
Riku
