Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
i have FUJIFILM XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... f_4_r.html
and i want to put this on the end of the fuji lens
Motic 10x/0.28 Plan APO ELWD 10x Microscope Objective
https://www.motic-microscope.com/p-1980 ... ctive.aspx
it has to be on the fuji xt-3 lens because the lens has electronic to the lens so i can use it for in camera photo bracketing.
i have 42 mm extension tube and all the adapters ring but not sure how to set it up like if the objective is mounted next to the lens or add a extension tube at a distance to make the micro scope objective away from the zoom lens.
i all so have a helicoid focus adapter.
i want to take pictures of tiny ant to maybe large as a bee or fly and the hole thing in focus.
the one i posted of the microscope objective is APO (E)LWD i all so have another made by some one else but it says APO SLWD (S)
which would be best i like a longer distance.
how much better would the image look with the microscope objective vs the same zoom lens with some raynox lens adapter.
here is the same 16-80 mm with raynox

Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
Slwd lenses usually have longer working distances than elwd, to the point of sacrificing too much resolution for photography. This may vary from company to company.
I would mount it right against the front of the lens.
I would mount it right against the front of the lens.
Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
That's a short focal length for a tube lens. I would expect vignetting.

Edited: fixed the adaptor link.
Yes, expect vignetting.
You only need this ring: https://rafcamera.com/adapter-m26x0-7-to-m72x0-75

Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
which lens is best for less vignetting, i have these 3.
FUJIFILM XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens
or
TAMRON 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD
or
viltrox AF 23mm F1.4XM
i seen this a while back https://rafcamera.com/m26-5-to-m72-thread-adapter
problem is covid taking up to 3 months for shipping.
i have 72 to 52 could i do this in 2 seperate rings
72 to 52mm then 52 to 26.5
ill have to look online not sure if they even sell it 52 to 26.5 mm
since i dont have the adapter you posted i was able to test it on this
https://bolioptics.com/objective-workin ... ctive-4-a/
vignetting is real bad tiny small circle.
and the link i posted of the FUJIFILM XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens + raynox adapter look better no vintage and looks better
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/512 ... 70c_4k.jpg
now the microscope 4 x objective https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/512 ... af1_4k.jpg
FUJIFILM XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens from sensor to end of fuji lens about 6 inches
would i need to make it longer from camera to lens with extension tube with electronic?
not sure if they sell fuji to fuji extension tube with electronic
or would i need to make it longer from the end of the lens then Put a spacer extension tube or helicoid then put the microscope objective for less vinatge,
in other words do i need to make it longer from camera to lens or lens to microscope objective to get rid of that tiny circle.
on the TAMRON 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD
i have to use the https://www.fringeradapter.com/canon-ef-to-fujifilm-x would this be consider adding length to the lens.
i think i bought every step up and step down ring ever made in the last 3 months and still cant get it to work
and 42 mm tube extension of all sizes in length.
probably over $200 worth

Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
Zooms usually seem to good only for focal lengths close to their maximum length. So you should choose a lens whose maximal focal length is close to the length you want to use most of the time. For APS that would usually be 200mm, and for FF it would be 300mm.
Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
so you saying the 3 lens i have wont work with no vintage
and the 200 mm and 300 mm im assuming cant be a macro lens either ?
i think i have about a total of $1500 in lens and $400 in adapters and ring
that fringer adapter was not cheap
could i put a bunch of these on my viltrox and make it work and how many would i need
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... n_set.html

It says free shipping with purchases >40 though. Don't rush, you might need several more rings.Macron wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 9:46 pmgot it here forMacro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:44 pmYes, expect vignetting.

I don't recommend stepping rings, it adds needless length between the front optic and the objective.
Only 2 manufacturers makes a specifically 72mm to mitutoyo M26 adaptor.

It does seem like you are rushing things, Macron. It would probably be wise to discuss your options a bit more before you go out and buy stuff.

Don't know anything about Caachoutlet.com but it looks like they just sell cheap chinese generic no-name goods. Hope you get what you need but in my experience unless its a reputable place like Monoprice, or Amazon, buying cheap no-name Chinese parts you will end up getting a cancelled order or worse some incorrect product that isn't usable. Personally I've tossed dozens of cheap Chinese adapters in the garbage when I received them since due to poor fit/mis-machining.Macron wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 9:46 pmgot it here forMacro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:44 pmYes, expect vignetting.

Sent Raf an email with the link. 99.9% sure the photos are lifted from his site and they don't sell his product.
It really would be better for all of us to spend another $10 and support RafCamera by buying directly anyway. I've wasted so much time dealing with machine shops are in Southern California that want $100 for each custom adapter and a min. order of 5 pcs. Other places in the US like SKG that are nice enough and do nice work but take 6 months to ship! Raf has custom parts drawn up, approved and finished in 1 or 2 weeks.
Best,
Robert

Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
Don't know the seller but I'm guessing a 40 piece order means he is taking Raf's drawing to a machine shop in China and running a custom batch and crossing his fingers. Guessing lead time is going to be 4-6 weeks to shipMacro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 3:55 am

Adding to the confusion, I'm concerned that Macro_Cosmos may have pointed to the wrong adapter in the first place.Macro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 3:55 amIt says free shipping with purchases >40 though. The one pointed to says "M26.5x0.5" .
But Mitutoyo objectives are M26x0.7 (36 tpi).
Is not the correct adapter the one at https://rafcamera.com/adapter-m26x0-7-to-m72x0-75 ?

Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
Yeah, you're right. I copied the wrong adaptor from my spreadsheet. I hope the user didn't buy it. Sorry about that, I goofed it like an idiot. Who knew ctrl+F on 26 will bring up 26.5, I'm dumb.rjlittlefield wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 9:54 amAdding to the confusion, I'm concerned that Macro_Cosmos may have pointed to the wrong adapter in the first place.

It's supposed to be this one: https://rafcamera.com/adapter-m26x0-7-to-m72x0-75
Mountable... maybe, good fit? No.
The site is questionable, it has all the RAF parts listed, some of which either aren't in stock or very low stock. Don't use it. Hope this means the person didn't buy anything.
They lift the drawings RAF generously includes and get it cheaply made in China.Shipping

Re: Need help on putting a Microscope Objective on a zoom lens
RafCamera replied and reported that the seller in question, https://www.chaachouet, is a fraud.
They don't sell Raf products so MacroCosmos is right, they are making Chinese knock-offs.
Please don't buy from people like that. From my experience you will usually regret it in the long run.
Support RafCamera, they deserve our business and BTW before someone asks I pay full retail and do not make one cent from any RafCamera sales. I just want to support someone that supports photomacrographers the way he does!
Best,
Robert
