Is the 5400 better for full-frame in terms of coverage?
https://www.closeuphotography.com/minol ... -5400-lens

In both of these comparisons on page above, you can see the Minolta beating the MP-E and Scanner-Nikkor in the corners, even on APS-C.

Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 vs MP-E

and farther down

Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 vs Scanner-Nikkor 7 element

Both tests are APS-C but you can get an idea of corner performance.

Best,

Robert

Just did a quick shot with the 7-element Scanner Nikkor and Sony A7rII at 1.2x magnification which I think is best for full frame. There is a slight drop in IQ beyond an image circle of 32mm but given the small size of the lens it is acceptable...

I like the idea using the diagonal grid pattern, its really and quick and easy to see the area of sharpness!

Best,

Robert

Thank you, Robert! I am too lazy to do focus stacking and shooting it diagonally at an angle makes sure that the picture is in focus "somewhere" across the image circle...

I agree. The corner-to-corner tilted grid looks like a great tool for performance testing.
