Etendue Mejiro lenses on eBay now

Post by Lou Jost »

One of Robert O'Toole's favorite tube lenses has come up for sale today on eBay at a good price. This is the Etendue Mejiro 90mm f/5.6 OTH100, for sale for $279. I just bought one and there are four left:

A different version, the OTH050 probably optimized for 1/2x, is also for sale on a different eBay site for considerably more.

I can't vouch for either seller.

Lens data, for those interested this was of course the OTH-100 variant (wasn't super hard to find but sometimes these charts get lost)

Edit: easier to just embed a screenshot, as HTML seems disallowed.

Correct. Most forums disallow or severely restrict HTML due to potential for mishap and abuse. HTML copied from other sites would be likely to render incorrectly in any case due to missing or conflicting CSS files and site-relative image paths.

Screenshots are the right way to go.

Mounting

Post by EricRed »

Chris's spec sheet lists the mount as "V-mount (38mm)". I'm hoping it is compatible with the Schneider V-38 mount.

Looks like there is no filter thread. I suspect getting a thread on the front of the lens will require a search for the right threaded tube, a lathe job or both.

Robert's posts and website www.closeuphotography.com can help with that. I don't recall right now what he used, but he figured it all out.

Thanks. I found the post:

The V-Mount is SK V-38 compatible as long the adapter has enough depth. I have a few Thorlab 52mm tubes. I have to consider Robert's internal mount method.

This is one of my favorite tube lenses of all! :D

I do have the spec sheet for them, I own the 1x and 0,75x versions.
Both are superb and not a bad 1x taking lens either, results are here:

Anyone curious I can pull the spec sheets.

I really should post on a page on the lenses on my site...and post the info there.

Another project!

Best,

Thanks Robert for originally bringing this lens to our attention. I am excited that I finally got one, and at a reasonable price. I hope some of the other forum members who needed one were able to take advantage of that listing.

There are two versions OTO and OTH N.

I have one of each and spec sheets for both.

Both are excellent.

This is the most flexible way of mounting, you can go normal, reverse, even with one lens sitting inside the shroud of another, or touching.

Thats what the tubes are made for BTW. You do need an V38 to SM2, I use V38>M42, and M42>SM2 flat type step-down.

Best,
