Optiphot with infinity objectives

Post by Saul »

Attempt to use infinity objectives on the Optiphot:

With Sigma LSA

With Surplusshed 125mm achromat. I liked initial results with this tube lens (no more testing done yet), not sure how it compares with Raynox 250. It is compact & cheap, fits well to the printed part.
Photo with SS 125mm achromat:

Luckily, with head (removed original tube, pls. see the photo), distance between objective & TL is ~5cm and between TL & sensor is ~125cm. Did not try yet to play with smaller distance or set up to the infinity. And, honestly, there is not too much room to play - if I'll make different 3d adapter, I could gain max 3mm. Unless I remove head, in this case I can go closer.

Saul, this is again a most interesting project...and a well done one!

I'm very curious about your results, as I also have the Nikon CFI 20/0.75 and Sigma LSA, but the only adaptation I've done is putting the LSA on bellows in the place of the microscope head.

- Are the eyepieces parfocal with the camera?
- Does the objective really work as infinite corrected?*
- If you have another CFI 60 objective, is it parfocal with the 20/0.75?

* With your last setup outside the microscope frame, with the microscope head + LSA alone you would be able to see focused things at infinite like with binoculars, I guess

Thanks for sharing your projects

That would be interesting to find out. My Optiphot head has a system of negative and positive tube lenses https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/ ... p?p=206784

It would be interesting to know how this adds up.

No. If honestly - I did not try to get parfocality, but it could be done (it is almost there)

Yes. Tested separately. And distances matching also

I have Nikon CF Plan 20x 0.46. And it is not parfocal with 20/0.75. Did not try with Mitu 20x .

Would be interesting to try it...and later to inform us :D

Is your CF plan 20X old style RMS 45mm? If so it can't be parfocal at least without a 15mm extension ring, the same but opposite with the Mitutoyo that is much longer (but this is trivial)

Very interesting, thanks for posting. I have very little experience with 3D printing. What material do you recommend if I want to print a reliable part for this type of use?

Best regards

Hi, Jörgen !
Mostly I'm using PLA+, sometimes (if I need stronger part) - PETG (but it is shiny)
