Oshiro 60mm 2:1 vs. Laowa Venus 60mm 2:1

Post by tomek770101 »

hello all,
Can someone compare these two lenses? best by pictures in 100% resolution. in the center and on the corners. Is the difference between them in the quality of photos?

I am actually slowly doing this comparison, on and off. Don't hold your breath.

I made and even wrote up a comparison before, but the 1951 USAF resolution target I was using turned out to be too bad to give informative results ( http://www.savazzi.net/photography/1951usaf.html ), so I decided to do it all over again.

However, so far, the verdict is: no significant difference in image quality.

See also http://savazzi.net/photography/laowa-oshiro-test.html and http://savazzi.net/photography/60mm2x_lenses.html , which makes clear that the two lenses are in fact easily distinguishable, with different coatings and optical formulas. Definitely not clones.

thanks for your in depth comparisons, enricosavazzi. I'm intrigued by this lens as well. Laowa, on the other hand, is apparently quite pissed off about it:
