You could look into one of the third party longer working distance lower NA 10xes. The seiwa/correct 10x is very credible on aps-c and might be less affected, or maybe one of the chinese variants.

Can you please point me to the thread discussing this? I'm not sure I can implement this because I will have glass in the "infinity space" like beamsplitter and polarizer.

I haven't been able to dig it up with a quick search. It probably would almost certainly not work with the intermediate components.

So I'd go with one of two options: trying a Seiwa 10x/0.25 or tryig a shorter focal length tube lens with the g plan apo 20x to push mag down a bit.
