Focus range of the CANON EF 70-200L 1:4 used as a tube lens

Post by Adalbert »

Hello everyone,

Has anybody already found out the focus range of the CANON EF 70-200L 1:4 used as a tube lens (independent of vignetting)?
I only would like to know the maximal thickness of the subject which can be taken by the usage of the focus of the Canon tele.

Especially for the following microscope-lenses:

1.) NIKON CFI BE Plan 4x
- CANON EF 70-200: focus=30mm ==> ? [mm]
- CANON EF 70-200: focus=infinity ==> ? [mm]

2.) NIKON CFI BE Plan 10x
- CANON EF 70-200: focus=30mm ==> ? [mm]
- CANON EF 70-200: focus=infinity ==> ? [mm]

Thank you in advance.
BR, Adi

Vignetting would be a problem, so the sensor size has to be known ;)

Hello Chris,
Sorry, I have forgotten that :-( Full-frame, of course :-)
I have already tried to detect the magnification but I really don’t know how to determine the focus-range in easy way.
