In a recent thread I was advised to try out the U-ULC condenser to enhance the quality of photography at low magnifications. Here is a test I performed showing why I cannot justify $700 on a U-ULC condenser if it makes NO difference to swinging out the TLD condenser in the universal condenser assembly. All photos straight out of the camera - no processing applied.
4x/0.16, Universal Condenser with TLO in place.
4x/0.16, Universal Condenser with TLO swung out.
4x/0.16, U-ULC condenser at 0.16 NA (matches 4/0.16 objective).
2x/0.08, Universal Condenser with TLO in place.
2x/0.08, Universal Condenser with TLO swung out.
2x/0.08, U-ULC condenser at 0.16 NA.
No condenser vs U-ULC
