The same applies with tracking in South Africa. All International Signed for, Registered, and Insured mail are given local SA tracking numbers.Harold Gough wrote:That tends to be the case with tracking starting in another country. In some cases, possibly only with Parcel Force, a UK tracking number is allocated at the Royal Mail arrival hub. It is a couple of years since I was involved with that.ChrisR wrote:I believe tracking on the economy USPS service is only within the US.
What is interesting and is not well publicized, is that if a parcel is lost within the borders of South Africa, and reported to the Fraud department, and after an internal investigation, the Recipient of the parcel is paid out for the value of the item excluding postage costs. However it is lost in transit prior to reaching SA, then the sender has to fill in a claim's form and will be paid out in the parcels country of origin.
