Thorlabs linear stages

Post by crisarg »

Hello,

Searching through the forums I didn't find too many words about Thorlabs linear stages. Are they comparable to the popular Newport ones?

I'm interested in PT1 model - Model page, since the price I pay for a new stage is not too far from a Newport stage in good condition bought from eBay. Is it overkill using it for 5-6x magnifications?

Thank you.

No, not overkill. In the 5-6X range, you will be down to using just a couple of the 0.001" tick marks per step. See further discussion HERE and following in the same thread.

And their quality is comparable to similar Newport products. Both are very widely used in the world of physics and other labs.
