Post by vincent61 »

Good morning everyone,
I don't have much knowledge about these types of lenses and I wanted to ask if there is a difference in image quality between the - (Carl Zeiss Semiplan 6.3 / 0.16 160 / - Pol) and (Carl Zeiss Semiplan 6.3 / 0.16 160 /-), thank you all who want to answer me.

Zeiss pol objectives have "strain free" optics. That is, they're manufactured in a way that reduces the strain in the glass elements when they cool. As far as I know, you'd only notice any difference if you were using polarised light - a polarised image would likely be degraded a little in non-pol objectives (the strain shows up as darker regions in the FoV). As such, I would expect overall performance in normal light to be the same - but I don't know that for a fact.
