Nikon E600 trinocular head replacement

Post by marius3200 »

I have recently bought Nikon Eclipse E600 microscope. It looks like it has not genuine Eclipse head. It's TC head with CFW eyepieces, not sure which microscope this head come from. I get some refund from the seller and I am going to get the right head. So can someone advise me what heads will match Eclipse?

Here is quite expensive F head for Eclipse:

Perhaps Nikon YM-TI will match?

Here is TC trino head I have:

Tc is an unfamiliar label but this appears to be a genuine Nikon labophot era finite head. Weird, certainly not optixally compatible unless someone added a tube lens.
All Nikon infinity heads are compatible (except the e800/e1000 mutants with the lip that would make mounting hard on other models I guess), going back even before the Eclipse series to the infinity corrected optiphots. These are sometimes affordable, but the most available models are limited to 23mm eyepieces (though with a good sort of itl200-like tube lens that covers aps-c).
Eg this model (but a damaged example) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-Trinocul ... 3952849238
Or this ergo model https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ex-NIKON-TILTI ... 4613890173
These can be used with Chinese 10x/22 23.2mm eyepieces which give a good fov to match normal eclipse eyepieces, but not true ultrawides. They also have an erect image which is nice imo. The ym-ti you linked is basically a later version of that first one but with 30mm oculars and will fit fine too.

thanks for advice.
I also found a super wide trino head, what's the difference in the perception of the image? Is it worth being interested in?

The ym ti ahould also cover ultrawide eyepieces I think, though I got one from that seller or a possibly related one and it was misaligned. Ultrawide is nice, both for the eyepieces ans for direct projection onto aps-c.

If you are still looking, the Accu-scope EXC-500 head is compatible with the Nikon Eclipse E600. The same microscope/head is also sold under several other names.

Here is TC trino head I have:
For completeness, my Metaphot came with a Tc head,
which is optically incompatible with Optiphot/Labophot T heads:
- the Tc head lacks lenses for that pseudo-infinity space around prisms;
- the Tc head adds an additional 30mm of tube length.

This topic shows a Metaphot with T head and spacer to make up that tube length:

I have seen a Fluophot microscope listed with Tc head.
I have seen more Biophots, Fluophots and Metaphots with Jentsch than Siedentopf heads.

I appreciate the info on that. Another variant standard to look out for.
