On other occasions the images I can produce look rather flat and lifeless, such as this image of Tenuiphantes tenuis (same lighting):
The lighting for both was a LED ring attachment for the microscope, currently undiffused. I've tried adding Ikea Janso lamps for contrast/shadows and just using undiffused and diffused Ikea lamps on their own, but if anything this has made the results worse rather than better. Can anyone suggest the best way to go about improving the "liveliness" of the images I can produce? Thanks.
