I have a stero microscope and am looking for my first compound microscope, primarily for entomological identification and photography.
I think the maximum I could stretch too in a new model would be along the lines of Zeiss Primostar 3 but have seen second hand Leitz Dialux II. I see these older models are still used on these forums and wondered if anyone had any useful advice on the pros and cons of an older model but research range vs newer model from a teaching range?

There are two microscope clubs in East Anglia where you would get a warm welcome and lots of advice, the Anglian Microscopy Group and the Iceni Microscopy Study Group.
