Okinawa Star sand (Foraminifera shells)

Holiday time - beach time. Take a look to your feet, when you walk on
sands of the warm seas, you will find lots of wonderful shells of Foraminifera and
other marine life. Microscopists always pack several vials to collect samples...... :D
These wonderful recent Foraminifera shells are from Okinawa sands,
you can find these at the Great Barrier Reef too.
Thanks for looking,
Gerd

Hello Gerd,

Beautiful shots of a beautiful subject! As well, I'm seriously envious of your holiday destination - hope you enjoyed the trip to a location most never consider.

How did you get the blue background, was this an arrangement?

All the best,
Mike

Thanks, Mike ! Yes, i arranged three single shell shots, stacked, on this blue background in Photoshop.
Unfortunately this material is just a souvenir from a good friend of mine,
who lives in Okinawa and here in Duesseldorf, one of the biggest Japanese communities in Europe.
Best wishes,
Gerd

WOW, Hoshizuna foram; Baculogypsina. Difficult to find but a must for a micrographer. You can buy a sample from this "charm" shop:

Excellent pics Gerd. I dreamed of watching one of these guys alive.
