European beach grass - bright field and fluorescence

Post by gewo »

Long time I am an observer here - it took a while for the first pictures :)
A motif that has certainly been seen many times, but perhaps not yet in these colors.
Sectioned using a Reichert microtome 25 µm - sample from 70% alcohol.

Image 1 bright field - staining auramine and safranin, embedded in Eukitt neo special - pano from 2 images Olympus BH2 SPLAN APO 10
Picture 2 Fluorescence blue excitation - staining auramine and safranin, as picture 1 - Olympus filter cube DMB DM500 BP490

Wonderful!

So the leaf curls in dry conditions and opens up in wet conditions.

Compelling images, and the sections are so tidy. Really nicely done.

Yes! These are both worthy entries into a microscopy competition!
