What a beautiful form! Superb image, especially "in situ". Better than most images of cleaned forms I've seen to date, if not all of them.

Do the striae resolve into pores? I can't tell at forum resolution. Looks like it could be another test diatom - if not exceedingly rare. Were there plenty in the sample, or was it just a one-off?

Thanks Beatsy. No pores visible either through the eyepieces nor the camera.
Have made up a couple of wet slides so far from the sample and found between 2 and 3 in each one.
