Very nice! I'm pretty sure which bits are the tracheae, but everything else is a mystery for me.

BTW, Flickr is not handling the largest image gracefully, at least for me on Edge and Chrome. The image is placed far too right on page, and gets cut off on the right as a result.

I get much better display from a direct link: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51360698122_4fcf24601d_k.jpg

But this is now kind of a no-never-mind, since I see that now your post is directly displaying a very large version of the image.

Thanks Rik ! Saw ostracods inside, decided that it is something related to the full belly :)

All my three browsers show correct page . Maybe because my laptop monitor is 4K ?

The image displays properly for me too, as it shows inline at the PMN forum.

The difficulty comes only when I follow your link to "Bigger: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bauras/51360698122/sizes/o/ " and click on "Large 2048".

With my browser set to full-screen, on a 4K monitor, that produces a page that looks like this:
2021-08-06_19-57-39.jpg
Edge and Chrome are quite similar. I just now tried Firefox and it loses even more on the right. I've checked to see if I had browser set to zoom for Flickr, but nope, not that.

I now realize that the largest image I can access is the one that you're currently showing with [img] here in the forum: the 4138 × 1176 image at https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/513 ... 8926_o.jpg .

That big stereo pair is seriously impressive when displayed in StereoPhoto Maker, blown up to full screen, and zoomed in on that ostracod shown in your crop. I can see the separation between the two halves of the shell, and what look like remains of the front appendages, with tracheal branches snaking forward (toward the screen) to what I take to be the skin of the larva, flattened by a cover slip. When I scroll vertically a little, I realize there are some testate amoebae in there also. So, most of what I had no idea about, were things that the larva had eaten!

a new collection method ?
i.e., collect chironomids and dissect out their guts. I once tried such a technique with mussels (clams) but ended up with a putrid mess.

Yes, I have exactly the same. Most probably it is a Flickr problem
