Moss Organisms: Amoeba, Mayorella

Post by SW_Perspective »

I collected a small piece of moss after our abbreviated monsoon here in New Mexico in late September and have been keeping it alive under lights. I recovered quite a few protozoa from the runoff water which is very rich in bacteria. IDs are tentative and corrections are appreciated. I will try to post them one organism at a time. All images taken with a flash.

During the first week or so there were many amoeba turning up. They were 80-90 microns in size.
