Oscillatoria

One of my latest pond dip samples was over run with oscillatoria with the exclusion of many other species. I'm starting to suspect the issue in many of our local "dying" ponds is related to cyanobacteria toxicity.

Well I remember I once took the ugly green flap from my aquarium and put it under the microscope. It was so spooky to see the algae moving like worms I at first was scared even to look at it. The way I remember it, those were thinner threads than yours.

BTW, not much later I emptied the aquarium for the infestation was uncurable.
