Front to back this rotifer measures about 260 microns. These are live specimens, but held in place by a coverslip (dropping lower as water evaporates). The second image is a bottom view. The third shows an egg held underneath at the rear. (If you look carefully you can make out the rotifer inside the egg). I've always found the "militaristic" look or the lorica amusing and fascinating.
