Sagra Longicollis (headshot); Polybothris sumptuosa (leg)

Post by Charles Krebs »

Not too long ago I posted a couple shots of a jewel beetle, Sagra Longicollis. ( http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=29587 )

Here are two more images of this beetle. One thing I liked was the iridescent "armor" that covered a portion of the eye

These next two images are of the leg (tibia) of another jewel beetle, Polybothris sumptuosa. What intrigued me here is the semi-circle of "plates" that surround the top of each depression that has a bristly "hair" (there must be a better entomological term than "hair" )

Wow...such incredibly detailed and beautiful imagery.

We have Christmas beetles here in Australia and I am yet to catch one and take some photographs under the scope.

These are some of the best detailed bug pictures I have ever seen! Keep up with the fantastic work!

Both beautiful and showing the highest level of technical accomplishment. Can't say more, these are just so good.

Wow, a very beautiful colour scheme. The backround colour enhances that of the beetle very nicely.
