I like the unusual perspective. I find the texture and colors to be very interesting.

Rik, At first I thought the debris on it's nose was spider webs and as I look more closely it looks like it might be diatomaceous earth from the mess I left after recharging the pool filter. I'll poke around in the area tomorrow. I had never seen the blue and turquoise scales before. They are fascin...

Western Fence Lizard

This Western Fence Lizard doesn't begin to compare to Kurt's Malaysian lizards, but it's all I have. This one was sunning on a granite boulder in the back yard. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/63_westernfencelizarda_1.jpg Roy Nikon D7100 Sigma 180 mm Macro Nikon R1C1 flash 1/125 sec, f...

Carlo,

These are superb! I can't believe how unusual the Scorpion Fly is. It looks like it is constructed of several different insects.

Kurt,

These are great, just like all your others. I really like the pose of the second one with it's eye looking straight at us.

Thanks for all the great advice. I'll check out your ideas for the next stack.

About batteries for the R1C1–I bought a bunch of Tenergy RCR123A 3.0V batteries and they have worked just fine. They hold a charge for a long time or a large number of flashes and recharge in a few hours.

Kurt,

I enjoy looking at the intricate patterns of their "scales." These are excellent.

Harold,

Excellent series. Those certainly are interesting patterns on it's wings. They look like oak leaves.

Most of the butterflies I see are moving too fast to track. Occasionally one stops for a minute or two.

Wow, Only three guesses out of 66 views. Pau wins the prize for the closest answer. It is the surface of the "stalk" of a Agave tequilana or blue agave. The plant is at least 30 years old and I just noticed the (12 foot tall) stalk. The stalk is about 8 inches in diameter near the base. The plant it...

My relatively inexperienced "eye" can't find any fault in this image. What a good job.

If you find a good DOF app let us all know.

Harold,

Thanks for the information. Given the level of neglect my plants receive it is amazing they bloom. I'll find some fertilizer and check their potting soil.

I have some amazing gigantic Euphorbia plants that are aver 15 feet tall and have some interesting flowers when they bloom.

Harold, The recent additions are really pretty flowers. You did a great job capturing the pinks and reds. My favorite flowers are Cacti and Succulents. Many of ours are blooming now. Thanks for the advice about feeding. I'll try to remember to do it. Some years ago a friend was showing me his cactus...

Mystery Image

I have spent long enough being unable to figure out other's "mystery" images. This weekend I thought up a puzzle for this brilliant group. Tonight I am posting the first clue and if there are no answers I will post a new image/clue every day. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/63_Mystery1...

Need help with Nikon D7100 Mirror Lockup and Flash

I finally dusted of my Stackshot and tried stacking with my new D7100 and R1C1 flash. I programmed the Stackshot to fire the shutter twice for each position (one to activate mirror lockup and once to fire the shutter). I noticed that the R1C1 flash fires twice. I was expecting the flash to only fire...
