Topic: DIY substage condenser for Rheinberg illumination?

dudski, I don't think the ebay item you linked can be a microscope condenser. I think that the main reason why you have not responses is because darkfield and Reinberg as such low power are not usual, but.. I understand that my question is somewhat vague without a setup or more technical details, bu...

the 14 is identical to 16, the only difference is that the 16 has 5 holes nosepiece and the 14 a 4 holes one (and the illuminator, one has the built in hallogen and the other the external incandescent but i have exchanged them, but both were made in different illuminator versions)

Many thanks Chris, I already had some zeiss manuals but not this one and never saw this information.
I use grey Standard 16 and 14, and I assume that most parts including the focus block are the same.

This kind of device was invented long time ago, it's know as "slide copier" or "slide duplicator" and it was a very usual accesory for bellows or as stand alone device to mount in the filter thread of the lens. If you have good macro lenses the best ones are those old devices. Now there is plenty of...

You can download the Zeiss brochure:

Joris, very good start!

Yes a blue filter (not very strong) will improve the white balance when you use incandescent or hallogen lamps. To do a more accurate WB a custom WB measurament with the same lamp power before the shot or to shot RAW and correct it later are the best approaches.

Two afocal photomicrography setups (now three)

The afocal setup consists in the use of the camera taking lens over the microscope eyepiece mimicking the eye. The camera lens is often called relay lens, although the relay magnification term IMO is better referred to the total secondary magnification, in this case due to both the eyepiece and came...

CFI 60, not CF 160.
CFI60 is the modern Nikon standard for infinite objectives.
