That's how I've been doing it, although the closest point I can focus at from my window(s) is less than 50m away, I rest some extension to compensate for the infinity distance. This morning I got an Apo-Gerogon 9/150 for use as a "tube lens" with the Mitu's 10X and 5X, I used this method to set up t...

Thanks Enrico! That's what I expected, more or less. Well, so I have to go out of the town every time I get a new "tube lens" to determine how much I have to extend it in order to focus it at infinity.

Best,

Nah, I finally sold the JML and replaced it with an Apo-Gerogon 9/150, although not the same FL, but I'll get a shorter FL lens(es) later on.

Thanks for the tip though, it can be useful for other lenses with rare (or no) mounting thread.

Is there such a formula?

Very likely a silly question, but just out of curiosity: is there a formula to determine the extension needed in order to get an infinity focus with an enlarging/process lens by its focal length, or it will depend on the lens design?

The eyepiece adapters will be too small for this lens, it looks similar to the 21mm, but it is actually much bigger, diameter is about 55mm. Not sure if it's worth bothering though, I think it will be better (and not much more expensive) to buy Raynox 250 or some other lens in this focal length. - M...

Hi Chris, filter adapter? :-k The thing is the JML has no mounting threads of any sort: http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa407/Macrero/DSCF0014_zps2o6dpzhr.jpg How is it supposed I will mount the Mitu there via threaded rings or adapters? - Macrero Edit: my poor english skills  I see it can...

Hi Jörgen, ah, gotcha! I was thinking about a better way to mount the Mitu on the JML. I'll see what I can do, if there is no way to get it right, I'll buy a Raynox 250, which has a similar focal length. Thanks for the comments though. 250+ views and you're the only one who commented, I see this sit...

Yeah, I know that both Raynox (150 and 250) works very well as a "tube lenses", but for now I'm playing with what I have... I may buy a Raynox just to compare it with some of the lenses I have, although I'm not sure there will be much improvement (if any).

Thanks JH! Btw, the JML lens has no mounting thread nor filter thread, so I used it with DIY adapters. Yesterday while I was positioning an insect and playing with the light I noticed there was ghost lights dancing around the live-view screen  The combo JML + Mitu is quite heavy and the adapt...

Test passed! :D The MP-E is an excellent objective for both studio and field macro work. I had it when I was a Canon-guy. The only thing I didn't like about it is its giant front diameter, making lighting a tad difficult, especially on the high end of magnification.

First stack with the Mitu 10X - Doli

So I finally got my Mitu, yeah, I know I'm late to the party, but better late than never :D I'm still hesitant about the tube lenses nuisance though, finite objectives are much more convenient to use, but to tell the truth, this objective is good, very good, breaking news? This is my first...
