If the ring is slightly rotated (misaligned) with respect to the lens, the pin may catch against the sides of the matching hole in the lens mount, preventing its retraction. Usually it is possible to retract the pin by slightly and gently rotating the lens with respect to the extension ring (by a fr...

While NA certainly does affect diffraction and therefore resolution, I believe that there is more to the matter of image quality. According to my experience with several photomacrographic lenses and microscope objectives used in photomacrography, many of the achromatic lenses correct radial (=latera...

Re: Question? About Mitutoyo M Plan 20x NIR objective

The Mitutoyo M Plan APO NIR series is additionally designed to be apochromatic. This means that chromatic aberrations are corrected at two points in the specified spectrum. While agreeing in general with your post above - at three points, surely, for apochromatic. Two for achromatic. ... My mistake...

JML 26 mm f/4.5, first short test

A first short test of the JML 26 mm f/4.5, compared to the JML 21 mm f/3.5. The subject is a laser printout, Nikon D300s with 90 mm extension to lens mount. JML 21 mm, full picture reduced http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/821_DSC_5031s_1.jpg JML 26 mm, full picture reduced http://www.ph...

My mounting solution, with the purpose of keeping things as simple and flexible as possible. The mount is a 12 mm long RMS extension (I bought a few off eBay some time ago). It was necessary to file off the thread of the female RMS mount with a Dremel multi tool and epoxy the lens into the mount. Th...

Not the black ones, but the red ones in the eBay ads seem to be identical to two indicator holding arms mounted on magnetic bases (the kind of arms used in mechanical workshops) that I bought from eBay a few months ago. The screws and mounts at the end of these arms are the only difference I can see...

25x lens on eBay

eBay item 140561638279. "Alos 22E Kodak Trimlite 24x Microfilm Viewer Lenses 4" Apparently a lens for microfilm/microfiche reader. In outer appearance, not unlike the JML 21 and 26 mm lenses and many others. I will not buy this, but if anyone feels lucky (or has reason to think well of these lenses)...

Here is what I figured out after counting all my costs: The total cost for one JML 26 mm f/4.5 mailed by registered letter to an address within the EU and paid to me via PayPal is going to be: 28 €. I can ship two specimens of this lens in the same envelope for a total cost of: 42 €. Shipment outsid...

My lots arrived today as well. As already mentioned in this thread, now I have a dozen specimens of this lens that I can resell individually or in pairs (this should primarily be of interest to members in the EU, considering the cost of re-shipping them). I was further slapped with about $ 65 in cus...

Re: MITUTOYO 50x

Hello, Anybody has information/reviews/picture quality about this objective ? Thanks, Saul I have no specific information, but judging from the diameter of the front element the working distance must be quite small (perhaps a couple of mm at most). It is not one of the M Plan Apo series, so it is n...
