IC Die Photos

Here a few shots of IC's taken from a ~2006 Apple webcam. The first is I think a voltage regulator chip that was on the back of the CCD board. The photo is a stitch of ~20 images the chip is ~3mm x1.5mm http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/5891_6846_10x_1.jpg I really like the symmetry on t...

Sorry to reply to my own posting, but re-sized image below 350KB and I am now getting an error message "Filesize exceeds limit." (Which is interesting as when they were much larger I got no error message). My file size is 344kB as per this screenshot (168KB) http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/use...

This might be a stupid question, but what is the best way to compress an image to get under the 300KB size restriction? I want to post some images of ic die photos which are stitched images (~10-50 images) the original TIF is 8-30MB, the post processed JPEG is 1.5-6M. (I am on a Mac) Using Preview I...

Don't you hate it when you are not sure if you've been April Fooled? There is a wikipedia entry for VantaBlack that references the Anish Kapoor issue https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vantablack
So I am thinking it's legit.

Awesome image! The question I always have looking at these fantastic bug shots is "How do you capture and kill the fly and keep it looking good" especially with 2 foot of snow on the ground :)

+7C here (Ottawa) tomorrow - we might soon be seeing Spring at last!

I found there are some good tutorials on Youtube that helped me figure out RT. I am still learning - in the thread on "Can deconvolution counter diffrac...

There is something odd with this image, you cannot see any metal routing. You can see individual transistors and capacitors, but they appear not to be connected up?? Was there metal routing elsewhere on the die? What happens at the bond pads? (Wondering if the metal routing was stripped during the d...

I am no expert in this area so take my feedback for for what its worth. I do not use the tool enough (or value the tool for the price) to use photoshop. I just could not figure out GIMP, I tried LightZone, but settled on RawTherapee which I find an extremely good tool with a ton of features. I am st...
