These are animals I miss living in Arizona. We have a few tiger salamanders but they are not native. Thanks for posting these, Doug. :)

This is very pretty, Nikola. This is the first time I've ever seen a "tailed" copper butterfly. Nice job! :)

Nice image, Nikola. I like the composition and, also, how the color of the 'hopper blends with the background. Cool! :)

There's everything to like about the top image, Rik. Composition is perfect, sharp where it needs to be, and I love seeing the eggs, too. Great job, my friend! :)

You have nailed the technicals in this image just about perfectly. Your DOF is aligned perfectly with the butterfly's wings. My only nit with this image is that for best composition the butterfly would have worked better if it were moved more left with the negative space in front of the butterfly in...

Right now the cicadas are singing up a storm in the cottonwoods and sycamore trees in Arizona. I just love that sound. Just about every cottonwood tree or sycamore tree trunk is covered with these shed skins. You'd love it, Rik! :)

Hi ya' Dave and Paul, :D I watched the flying dragonfly return to the same perch time after time. This is an often observed behavior of the Blue Dasher. So, yes, I pre-focused on the perch and fired short burst of images as the dragonfly approached the perch. It's not unusual for me to practically f...

Doesn't Arizona have dry heat there Tom? In the Philippines when it hits over 100°F in the shade isn't to uncommon to see folks out frolicking in the sun. I really like that fire orange one, really cool Tom. 8) I've lived in Phoenix 40+ years, Ken and...It's just flat  :!: :!: HOT :!: :!: ...

Just Dragonflies...

Took a break from photographing birds. It's getting so darned hot here in Phoenix, Arizona, USA that the birds are going into deep cover. It was a balmy 110°F, yesterday, when I photographed these dragonflies :D ... http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/2_bdasherlanding_1.jpg I was trying to...

Cool, Ken :!: I've not often seen the Eastern species of spiny lizards so these images are a treat to me. I like the bottom image quite a bit. Good portrait with a bit different head turn. The top image, I wish you had turned the camera vertical and backed off some to get the whole tail. Good grabs,...
