I'm using a FF camera. And there is vignetting issue. Not too much in my view point. I guess it is a Mitutoyo clone also. Other than the NA value, all other values are the same. Don't know the quality yet as I get no time for the testing at the moment. Fair enough. My experience with the Mitutoyo s...

Rik That is very well reasoned and quite likely to be right. However I give you this. We know that enlarger lenses offer decent but not spectacular performance reversed. We have curves that suggest that they should be excellent close to infinity over the reduced field of view required. Only, I must ...

Assuming the camera has an APS-c sized sensor and the lens isn't vignetting it should be a good match. 3.75x with a mitutoyo should work well. That looks like a mitutoyo clone but hopefully it has the same sort of coverage.

Very impressive.

What are the advantages in practice over a microscope xyz stage and a bit of fiddling?

Not much. That translates as "we have not sold out. yet". The response DQE got gets translated to "we have not run out of spare parts yet".

Nobody is saying how large a stock is left.

Ah well. One good thing about this site is if you get it wrong somebody won't let the mistake stand.

I am not used to thinking about high NA objectives. I had figured that ether their field of view would be relatively disappointing or their working distance irritating.

ChrisR No. I have been trying to explain that shortish enlarger lenses work best close to infinity. The results may be good but they can be better. The 80mm should be front and reversed. However good the raynox are as macro filters they will work even better reversed as tube lenses. They have the ri...

Well I don't know if you can or you can't but I can tell you that a few mm difference in tube length is of no optical significance.

But why? The whole point of stacking is to use the front, objective, lens as close to its optical optimum as possible. This based on the assumption that optimum is with forward convergence close to it's focal length. With the 80mm as tube lens that would occur at about 80/125= 0.64x. They should be ...

NikonUser. Ok if you can loose the bellows and shorten to about 3cm tube length the following just might give you a pin sharp corner to corner 2x. No promises. What you need to do is create a 7.5 to 8mm stop. Perhaps you can find a washer with a central hole that size or drill a 8mm hole through the...

Hi betty. I don't think unscrewing the back lens assembly quite counts as dissasembly. However I am often wrong so best to inquire before screwing up by, ah, unscrewing a valuable lens. If used stacked there is the option of adding a paper stop between the lenses. There is this. At f/2.8 that lens i...

Um. I have found the MFT curves for the apo componon 40/2.8 and they are an interesting read. https://www.schneideroptics.com/pdfs/photo/datasheets/apo-componon/apo-componon_28_40_2.pdf Now imagine you wanted to use it reversed for 3x magnification. If you look to the bottom of the chart you will se...

The apo-componon 40/2.8? Surely capable of good resolution at low magnifications. I think most quality enlarger lenses are made in two sections. The 3 element back section simply unscrews to reveal the iris. If your iris is a simple metal plate with a f/2.8 hole then it should be no great problem to...

It might not be the solution for you then. You could still use your DCR-250 as a tube lens if you can get down to about 8cm extension. The whole plan does depend on shortish tube lenses as the best objective lenses are usually 50mm and under. Shame. I have had good results with a 80mm enlarger lens ...

#####. My apologies. It looks horrid. Um. You put the 80mm on a bellows. The idea is to use both lenses at about infinity so allowing for camera mount to to sensor distance I recon you needed something like 3cm of extension. That should have given you 1.6x magnification. Is that what you did? I asks...
