Re: 3d Printed Carriage for Thorlabs XT66 optical rail

Hi Cam, Thanks for getting me motived to finish some of my projects. Seeing your XT66 reminds me about my Thorlabs X95 rail vertical setup I have sitting here gathering dust unfinished. I'm planning in using a Velmex Unislide XY for positioning, 6 inch XY, 4 inch XY and 1.5 inch XY (I've been patie...

Re: 3d Printed Carriage for Thorlabs XT66 optical rail

Unfortunately the rollers don't quite fit into the dovetail groove on two counts: first, the nut holding the rollers at the bottom is too wide and hits the XT66 rail and, second, the rollers are also slightly too thick so that bottom edge of the roller barely sits into the groove - there's quite mi...

Re: 3d Printed Carriage for Thorlabs XT66 optical rail

Hi Kaleun96, =D> so you did it :D another thorlabs rail setup. You could also make grip your rollers into the V-groove oh the rail instead of the slider. I use an xy-table like this on Aliexpress , bolted to an Arca clamp. Rough positioning by the Arca clamp and fine tuning by the knobs. I can even...

3d Printed Carriage for Thorlabs XT66 optical rail

Hello, back again with some more 3D printed creations that I thought some here might be interested in. As a quick background: my stacking setup is based on two XT66 rails in a vertical configuration and I've previously been using a 150mm optical breadboard mounted to an upside-down Arca clamp to att...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

New part printed and working well and I printed a small retaining part for the diffusion gel. It just press-fits into the top of the cone and seems to hold well. The light distribution is also looking much better with the aid of the aluminium foil. I don't yet have the right 50mm to 67mm adapter so ...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

The single-opening design revision finished printing and for the most part came out well, particularly the dovetails to connect the two pieces. I made some mistakes with some mounting holes on the bottom for a 50mm adapter so made some minor changes and am now printing the main part again. In the me...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

Very interesting and creative ideas. I had just written a long story about covering surfaces with aluminum when I saw the latest comments. It seems you understand the principle, but here it comes anyway. Perhaps explaining the subject to some other people for the first time. I strongly agree you co...

You might try aluminum gilding(leaf).
Yes! I have some aluminium tape and regret not covering the walls with it before gluing the "top" on. I suspect it would make a significant difference, though not sure how much.

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

Will keep updating here for anyone interested. The above design printed successfully and the pin-hole method for joining the two parts worked well. However, this design eats up the light and requires me to shoot at ~800 ISO, 90/s shutter, f5.6, and 1/16 setting on the flash. I could definitely do th...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

Alright, here's a new design that introduces the light from the flash from two sides to get a more even distribution. The model below shows the main part, without the "lid" so to speak. I'll print this in two parts to save on having to print a lot of supports for the overhanging features that cover ...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

Interesting! Since you asked for ideas, I am planning to later build a pair of diffusers for my dual head flash, using a pair of these asymmetric party bowls: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XQNW6K6?ps ... ct_details This to provide a degree of wrap-around lighting to the subject. But for a single hea...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

The printer itself is a Creality CR-6SE, and is relatively affordable. At https://creality3d.shop/collections/3d-printer/products/creality3dcr-6-se-3d-printer , I'm seeing a list price of $399 for ship from US. Is that the right unit? --Rik That is the one! Some things to keep in mind about buying ...

Cam, Those are really nice 3D prints!! You've certainly produced outstanding results in such a short time with your 3D printer =D> What software did you use to design the prints? Best, Thanks Mike! I was really surprised how accessible this whole 3D printing stuff is and am really enjoying having o...

Re: Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

so I haven't thought much about the physics behind it yet or optimising the designs for weight and strength etc. If you have some ideas let me know and I'll see if I can whip up some designs and print them. I have no ideas about your design per se. However, it does occur to me that you might learn ...

Some 3D printed accessories for the Godox TT350 flash

I just got a 3D printer last month and have since turned my attention to printing some accessories for my flash, the popular Godox TT350. I'll share the Thingiverse link below but I'm also interested in any suggestions and ideas people might have. I have some thoughts for a more typical macro flash ...
