I don't often get to go to the ocean, either. I am fascinated by the ocean creatures, however, just never have the time to go. :( Next time you find yourself shooting around water, carry a polarizing filter with you. It will knock off the glare and reveal the color of the subjects better. Nice image...

Here's an old forensic photographer's trick you can use when photographing smelly subjects. Get a few of the cheap, paper medical masks sold in drugstores to prevent airborne spread of diseases. Also, buy some oil of wintergreen or oil of spearmint. Your neighborhood drug store should have that, too...

Mike Said: Also, if you have this lens, turn off the IS when using it on a tripod. Canon claims the IS is not tripod-sensitive, but I find a substantial decrease in image quality if I leave the IS on while on tripod. When handholding, the IS works very well. This post has got me thinking. My camera...

...However what still bugs me is why wasn't this thing right the first time, just how many lemons can one company make at a time? I agree it is much easier to complain about something that does not work right the first time than it is to comment on something that does. Hi ya' Ken. Zoom lense...

I've had manual focus lenses (Nikon) that had to be sent back because they would not focus properly at infinity. I've had to send a couple of Canon autofocus bodies in for adjustment. The thing is, every manufa...

I like the way it flows into the frame and renders to itself dominance. :smt079 The highlights nicely accentuate the petals and the background is very complemetary. Also the softness of the petals beneath, helps to lead ones eyes away from the image and relaxes the composition overall. Nicely done ...
