I don't often get to go to the ocean, either. I am fascinated by the ocean creatures, however, just never have the time to go. :( Next time you find yourself shooting around water, carry a polarizing filter with you. It will knock off the glare and reveal the color of the subjects better. Nice image...

Judging by the antennae and the face, I think this is some little "plant bug" in the family Miridae. Nice image, Sue. :D

"Zen" close-up photography, grasshopper. :D Nice images, Doug. One slip with the weedwhacker and it would have been frog's legs for dinner :!: :D

Here's an old forensic photographer's trick you can use when photographing smelly subjects. Get a few of the cheap, paper medical masks sold in drugstores to prevent airborne spread of diseases. Also, buy some oil of wintergreen or oil of spearmint. Your neighborhood drug store should have that, too...

Cool, Sue. I especially like grasshopper eyes. If you ha gotten a tad more parallel to the little hopper you might have gotten the "knees" sharp, too. Cute face on this guy :!: :D

Who turned Van Gogh loose with a camera :?:  :D Looks like the conditions in which I was trying to shoot dragonflies, yesterday. Photographing blowing flowers can be a lot of fun and create some unusal images. :D

Hi ya' Phil,

The first couple of images may be a bit tight in the frame but I do very much like the third image. I'm accustomed to seeing green frogs. Wgat's with the brownish colors? :?:

Mike Said: Also, if you have this lens, turn off the IS when using it on a tripod. Canon claims the IS is not tripod-sensitive, but I find a substantial decrease in image quality if I leave the IS on while on tripod. When handholding, the IS works very well. This post has got me thinking. My camera...

...However what still bugs me is why wasn't this thing right the first time, just how many lemons can one company make at a time? I agree it is much easier to complain about something that does not work right the first time than it is to comment on something that does. Hi ya' Ken. Zoom lense...

Hi ya' Mike and Ken, Ken in my experience, every manufacturer makes a lemon now and then. I've had manual focus lenses (Nikon) that had to be sent back because they would not focus properly at infinity. I've had to send a couple of Canon autofocus bodies in for adjustment. The thing is, every manufa...

I like the way it flows into the frame and renders to itself dominance. :smt079 The highlights nicely accentuate the petals and the background is very complemetary. Also the softness of the petals beneath, helps to lead ones eyes away from the image and relaxes the composition overall. Nicely done ...
