Re: Focus stacking algorithms: Zerene vs Photoshop
No need to know the algorithms. Just stack the same image with Zerene and Photoshop. I'll guarantee the Zerene image will have fewer artifacts

Re: Auto focussing by moving the camera
I think Zerene Stacker makes steps 2 and 3 unnecessary. IIRC, Zerene Stacker adjusts the individual images in a stack to the magnification of the first image. This means all you need to do for subsequent frames in the panorama is to start at the same Z position.

Re: Auto focussing by moving the camera
It sounds like you want a spherical macro panorama setup. In order for one to work, the entrance pupil of the lens needs to be at the rotation point of the spherical panorama jig. This implies using bellows to control the focus for focus stacking or moving the subject. If you want to do orthogonal p...

Re: Tube clamp (46C) - Wemacro
Here's a short video on how to model a tube clamp. There is one small mistake in the video: I dimensioned the length of the bottom flat instead of its distance from the center point.
Thorlabs has downloadable models of their tube clamps.

Re: Tube clamp (46C) - Wemacro
I'll be happy to show you how to model one. I don't have all of the specifications for the WeMacro version. It would be best if you requested those directly from WeMacro.

This is simple enough to model or to make one similar

Re: Features for a motorized stage (focus stacking)
It's reasonable, but you should first define your tolerances for each of those fields. Hi elf, Can you explain, why should I first define my tolerances for each of those fields for the StackShot, before that someone mention the values for those fields for the Stackshot? Regards, jac If you don't kn...

Re: Phase contrast annulus, 3D printing
I would have a hard time 3d printing those threads accurately with my FDM printer. An SLA printer would be a better choice. There are several available now for around $200US.

Actually, a device like that would be rather simple to make. Just mount a Stackshot on a pistol grip

Somewhere in the archives is a post by LordV showing how he uses a pole or walking stick to stabilize the camera. He also has a Flickr account showing it.

The new format is fine with just one tiny niggling little issue. Firefox doesn't show an icon on the tab. I assume you're talking about the tab in the browser tab bar. As far as I know, nothing at photomacrography.net or photomacrography1.net has ever displayed a site-specific tab icon. If you have...
