A while back I bought a bunch of lenses from SS (on one of their famous sales) to test as hand magnifiers (loupes), including many of the Kowas, the 32mm Tominon (and several other Tominons), and a few unmarked scanner lenses. I put them in storage and probably should get them out to test. I did fi...

How would you mount this on a Canon APS-C camera? Will let you know when it arrives, that is if Surplus Shed didn't lose my order, thats happened more than once :? Hopefully I can find a 42mm, 39mm, 52mm, or Thorlabs/Newport tube that will that slip over the lens or I will have to use blue painters...

THIS! Took a while to figure it out - but easy to apply (and remove) beats geometric perfection every time! Oh yeah, I didn't even think of removal. Now that you mention it. Prostar adhesive is way too strong to make removal easy. The tape ends up delaminating when you try to peel it, leaving half ...

Re: RAW to Tiff
I heard this from a Nikon ambassador. He said always shoot in RAW and then convert it to a tiff using the software from your camera's manufacturer. Be careful with that advice, Nikon reps will also tell you to only use Nikon USA lenses on your Nikon DSLR. Don't let them catch you using a Nikon lens...

My 20 foot roll of Prostar self adhesive tape has been sitting collecting dust, i don't think I will use it again. Now I use black matte material in sheets from Amazon. I set up, roll up a sheet and slide it into the lens tube. Takes about 0.5 seconds and cuts flare perfectly. The problem I have wit...

Hi Robert, Nice test. Any idea about scanner's brand/model ? No sorry, I asked, all they could say is that is was new, never used and came to them as part of a group of optics. I believe someone from the forum also messaged the seller and was not able to dig anymore info up. If the seller let it go...

68mm f4.5 Scanner Lens Test
http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/3062_ScannerLensX21500pxwwwCloseuphotographycom_1.jpg This is an unmarked, unbranded scanner lens that I picked up that is an excellent performer. Earlier this year I posted results from another larger unmarked scanner lens that is from the same seller ...

That extra black clip at the base of the focus block is missing on my version....it would have been very useful. Have you ever seen one sold separately? FYI the tension 'arm' has Kipp logo on it. I didn't see a 'clamp' on their site like this. https://www.kippusa.com/us/en/Products/Additional-Produ...

My version of the base has different tensioning system, a separate dial which is missing. only its shaft remains. I can move the shaft with a thick pin stuck through a hole in the shaft, but that's awkward, and the friction is hard to adjust. I've thought of making a bracket like that....nice to se...

Lou, That Z travel limit bracket really is a good idea. I have a habit of running one of my MM-11 stands off the bottom of the Z gear while focusi...

I would think it's quite possible it weights that much considering how thick the base is. I just purchased this particular one on eBay and it weighs 87 pounds (as shown in the picture with no other attachments). I also have a MM-11 that weighs about the same (with no attachments). http://www.photom...

Nice results Jörgen! The first question that comes to mind is, how did you manage to mount that massive lens, I saw an image years ago of someone using that 360mm lens for macro and the entire rig was over 3 feet in length, sorry over a meter long and the lens was wider than the photographers hand :...
