Don't think you can use the internal stacking with the D850 & an objective, the D850 requires the lens focus control I believe to change focus position

Visible emission from transistor PN junction
Here's an interesting post on the visible photon emission from a reversed biased breakdown transistor emitter base junction.

I started with Mike's custom Trinamic 5072 boards as shown in my pic above, and then built a few of my own custom boards to accomodate a more powerful Trinamic 5160 and a single 5072 on a second rig. start http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/5301_Trinamic_Homemade_smalljpg_1.jpg Mike has ...

Hope everyone is doing well and thanks for all the great responses. I came to the conclusion Raspberry Pi and these Trinamic controllers sound like a pretty compelling potential answer for me. I picked up some TMC5072-BOB boards & adafruit perma proto pi hats to have on hand. Mike I am not quite un...

Agree with Macro_Cosmos and chris_ma. These flash units, even the small battery powered units that mount on the camera hot shoe, have lethal voltages present and the capacitors can hold this voltage for quite some time, long after things are turned off and disconnected. As mentioned, have someone th...

I can 2nd Chris and Macro_Cosmos. I've had so many problems with cheap eBay rings and adapters from China, they are either labeled wrong & don't fit, bind, or are so loose not useful (lost is shipment (claimed?), long delivery, etc). Unless you know the vendor, it's "rolling the dice" for any cheap ...

To be clear on the Wemacro XYR stages, these are not manufactured by or for Wemacro. Similar or maybe the same devices are available from eBay, but I've found eBay to be risky on many things unless you know the supplier. William at Wemacro seems to carefully watch the quality of all the items they s...

Thanks folks. Don't mind tinkering and somewhat patient, so may be a good candidate but will wait for the prices to drop. I was considering using a small heat sink for the LED and using the printed plastic part to mount to the heatsink, so the plastic will only see the lower heat sink temperature. B...

Thermal Printer
Considering a thermal printer after seeing all the great works folks have produced. Have a few small printed circuit boards (usually under 100mm square, 60mm height or less) and such that been developed that I would like to create cases for and maybe some future small fixtures to support LEDs lights...

I have and use the XYR stages from Wemacro, they work well and aren't expensive. These are 40mm square types and thus don't support heavy loads.

I had ordered a LM399 reference off eBay about 4 month ago, thought is was never shipped, but finally it arrived. Decided to build up a quick test circuit with some parts I had on-hand to check it out. It's pretty stable!! The 2 DVMs (they need calibration which I'm delinquent on getting done) are A...
