Great photos Mark. Popping of the caps does look like it could be dangerous but rewarding. I love the colors in the third photo. Classic danger colors on that spider.

Looks good to me. Anything to increase DOF for macro should be tried.

I know how dust and lint can ruin a good photo but with that background it sort of all blends together into something that is actually artistic IMO..I like it!

I remember seeing a show on the Discovery Channel on how they used to mix these with milk to kill flies. The flies would drink the milk laced with the fungus and die. The usual warning colors in effect on these.

Buprestidae have some of the most beautiful metallic colors in the insect kingdom. WOW....two inches....huge one.

Do these bees tend to hover like hoverflies? I have actually seen a new bee around my flowers and it actually looks like this. At first I thought it was a hovering beefly until it landed on the flower.

Hi Gunn, Welcome back. I remember some of your great pictures from Down under. This fella is very cute. There is something about animals that cock their heads that puts them right up there with little puppies. We want to see more.

Good find Ken and with the information Betty supplied, I can label the pictures I have taken in the past of flies effected like this. I have some pictures I will be Posting this weekend of flies I have found in my garden this week with the same fungus.
