Re: The joys of international shipping...
Was there severe damage to the box? If not, I hope you are planning to force a return. This is egregious. Well, one end of the box was covered with tape saying "DHL repackaged". That end didn't quite retain the original package shape either. The bubble wrap and the tissue were also sticking to the ...

The joys of international shipping...
What was advertised: Picture 0a.jpg ...was delivered as: Picture 4a.jpg The lens surfaces were protected by a little piece of toilet(?) paper and the lens was wrapped in a thin layer of fine bubble wrap. There were some larger bubbles in the box as well, but they were not tied to the lens in any way...

Re: Best set up for Microscope to Sony A7R V.
For Clarity: It looks like I could use either my sigma 105mm Macro art focused at Infinity and get 5x out of a 10x objective, such as the Nikon CFI Plan 10x (http://extreme-macro.co.uk/nikon-10x-objective/#ixzz4c5n0ZHnx), or I could use my Tamron 35-150 with 50mm extension tubes set at the maximum ...

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?
I've used it and my recollection is it worked with AF. Don't expect miracles, though. It is not the same as without TC.
Edit: Just checked again and it works .... which it does with 180L as well.

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?
Okay, so you take the EF100 add the EF to RF adapter and the RF2X TC and end up with an effectiv aperture of 16.7 but can use AF and do automated stacking if the camera is capable to do so (but why would you use the commlite adapter?) Because none of the adapters will accept the RF TC in original c...

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?
EF100 with RF2X is this really possible? Certainly, but see below. unless you already have it or need autofocus I don't really see the point - for the same price you get a laowa 100 which will almost certainly perform better at 2x Well I had both the EF 100 and the RF 2x, so I only needed the Comml...

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?
Or stick a 1.4X teleconverter behind it, and get infinity to 2.8X at the turn of a focus ring. yeah, that's certainly more convenient :) will result in a performance hit from infinity to 2x and longer focal length though. Theoretically - yes. In practice it might not be visible depending on the cam...

Re: WTB: Transparent Grid distortion target
What is the reason for the lighter stripe at the right edge of all columns? A light leak somewhere or possibly a reflection? It should not be there.

Re: Sensor size and MPixel
The pixel pitch defines how small details you can capture. The optical resulution defines how small details there can be for the sensor to capture. The limiting factor can be either one. If the minimums are relatively close to each other you are using both optimally. If not, you are wasting either f...

Re: Attempting to copy Charles' Krebs Photomicrography setup: What is the rail used to raise the camera?
The Kaiser copy stands use the same rail as their System V enlargers, the only difference is the scale printed on them. They do have columns with counterweights and gear/belt-drive as well, which still use the same aluminium extrusion. He doesn't use the normal Kaiser enlarger column feet but seems...

Re: coupling adaptor
That is often necessary. It will increase the distance between lenses and that increases the danger of vignetting, but other than that, there should not be a problem.

Have you tried Aliexpress? The selection there is better.

Re: Reality check
The number of steps needed to move the focus plane from one edge of the coin to the other should be added to the number of steps given by the calculator. No addition is needed if the calculator is used as intended. The key input is the total depth of field to be captured in focus, measured along th...

Re: Reality check
In the video, I used red focus peaking to highlight the areas of the subject that are acceptably in focus. As the focus rail moved from back-to-front, the areas in focus moved from top-to-bottom of the photo frame. That's what I meant when I said "mapping the sensor." This one is easy ... and is ou...

Re: Attempting to copy Charles' Krebs Photomicrography setup: What is the rail used to raise the camera?
The long rail seems to be Kaiser Copy Stand. I can't say the model outright even though I use one too.
